Selbie represents and advises individual and corporate clients in matters involving white collar criminal defense, regulatory enforcement, internal investigations, and civil disputes.

She has represented clients in investigations and litigated cases initiated by the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission involving allegations of insider trading, securities and wire fraud, money laundering, tax evasion, conspiracy, improper accounting practices, and other failures to comply with regulatory requirements. Selbie has guided clients through various stages of the criminal and regulatory processes from the first outreach from the government through the investigation, trial, sentencing, and obtaining post-sentencing relief. Along with the Clark Smith Villazor LLP team, Selbie has succeeded in having cases shut down by the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission before charges or a lawsuit were even filed.

She has also conducted both large-scale and targeted internal investigations of public and private companies at the direction of boards of directors and company management. Having conducted these types of internal investigations herself, she also regularly represents individual executives and employees in interviews as part of internal investigations being conducted by their employer. Her experience includes representations in internal investigations involving insider trading, fraud, market manipulation, price fixing, improper accounting practices, and other failures to comply with regulatory requirements.

In addition to her government and internal investigation practice, Selbie also represents individuals and companies in civil disputes in federal and New York state court and advises clients in business disputes prior to the initiation of litigation. She has assisted clients with disputes involving anti-competitive and enterprise-threatening business practices, executive employment and compensation, malicious prosecution, false arrest, defamation, and tortious interference with business relations.

Selbie has valuable court room experience and has been a crucial member of trial teams in both federal and state courts including a four-week criminal fraud trial in the Southern District of New York and an order of protection trial in New York Family Court.

Prior to joining Clark Smith Villazor LLP, Selbie was an associate at two international law firms.
